Reigning and ruling in your domain—this is our topic for today. God has given us authority to dominate. In Genesis 1:26-28, the Bible tells us:
"God blessed them and said to them, 'Be fruitful and multiply and replenish the earth and subdue it and have dominion.'"
God has given us the authority to dominate, and the Lord will help us and strengthen us to be fruitful, multiply, and have dominion in the name of Jesus.
These people exercised dominion not because life was easy. One thing they had in common: they trusted God, they obeyed His word, they prayed faithfully, and they refused to compromise.
Joseph was rejected by his brothers. He was sold into slavery, accused by Potiphar's wife, and imprisoned for a crime he did not commit. Yet he became prime minister of Egypt.
How did Joseph exercise dominion? He remained faithful to God in every season. He was a good boy who reported to his father. When Potiphar's wife tempted him, he said, "I cannot do this evil before God." He refused to be tempted. He used his God-given gift to interpret dreams, telling Pharaoh, "Does interpretation of dreams not belong to God?" And he forgave those who hurt him.
Your circumstances do not determine your destiny. Faithfulness under pressure prepares you for promotion.
Moses felt inadequate. He was a stammerer. He faced Pharaoh's resistance and led a complaining nation. Yet the Lord used him to part the Red Sea. Israel was delivered after over 400 years in bondage. God's authority is greater than any earthly authority.
David was young and inexperienced, tending sheep in the field. When he went to meet his brothers, he was rejected. When Goliath challenged Israel, Goliath mocked David, and Saul underestimated him.
But David had faith. He told Saul, "Your servant has been keeping his father's sheep. And a lion came, a bear came, and he killed him." He said to the people, "You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord."
David killed Goliath with one stone. God has endowed us with so much power. Don't bring yourself down. After he killed Goliath, he asked Saul, "Whose son are you, young man?" David said, "I am the son of your servant, Jesse of Bethlehem." That was how the journey of glory started. David became the king of Israel, and Jesus Christ came from his lineage. God will make us dominate in the name of Jesus Christ.
Daniel was placed in the lion's den. He remained committed to prayer. If you want to dominate, you pray. Prayer is serious business. It is something you will do until you go to your grave. Prayer changes things. Don't defile yourself in the world. Daniel had an excellent spirit. He did not defile himself at the king's table. The Lord will help us in Jesus' name.
Nehemiah had a discerning spirit. When Sanballat, Tobiah, and others tried to stop him from building the wall, they even hired a prophet to intimidate him.
In Nehemiah 6:11-12, Nehemiah said: "Should a man like me run away? Or should someone like me go into a temple to save his life? I will not." He realized that God had not sent the prophet, but Tobiah and Sanballat had hired him. They hired a prophet to intimidate him so he would commit sin. The wall was completed in 52 days. God has positioned us. Anyone that doesn't want us to win, the Lord will look after them for us in the name of Jesus.
Esther did it God's way. She prayed and she fasted. Do not do it your own way; do it God's way. Persevere. Live a holy life. Live a righteous life.
Paul was beaten. He was in prison. He was rejected and shipwrecked. He was persecuted. Yet he prayed and worshipped God in prison. He preached despite suffering. He never abandoned his calling. Prison doors opened. Lives were transformed, and the gospel spread throughout the Roman Empire.
Jesus Christ is our perfect example of dominion. He was tempted by Satan. He was rejected by His own people. He was betrayed by Judas. He was crucified. But He remained faithful to the Father. He resisted temptation. When the devil came, He used Scripture. He loved His enemies. He surrendered to God's will.
He conquered sin. He conquered Satan. He conquered death. Even in the grave, He resurrected. We lost dominion through sin. During Adam's time, Jesus Christ became the second Adam. The Lord will help us to rule and reign in our domain.
All these biblical figures had something in common:
The God who gave Joseph wisdom, Moses boldness, David courage, and Daniel protection, and favored Esther, is still the same God. The God who delivered Nehemiah from Sanballat and Tobiah is still the same God. The Lord will help us in Jesus' name.
I want us to stand and pray. Let us thank God quickly. In my language, they say that the sun outside is able to dry clothes. In this little time, the Lord is able to do great and mighty things.
Let us pray: Open my eyes to know who I am. I am a child of the King of kings. I cannot be defeated. Help me to live as Your child. I'm an heir of Christ. I'm more than a conqueror. Give me a deep hunger for Your word. The Bible says, 'This book of the law will not depart from my mouth, but I shall meditate upon it day and night, and I will have good success.'
Revive my prayer life. Remove every spirit of prayerlessness. Make me steadfast. Give me victory over sin. Strengthen me, O God. Keep me, O Lord. Help me to have dominion over every mountain in the name of Jesus—over my home, my children. Let Your presence, Your righteousness, Your authority rule in my home.
In any area where our life is being dominated by forces of darkness, destroy it, O God, in the name of Jesus. As many that You have not made king, and they think they are king of our lives, dethrone them. Every circumstance working contradictory to us, frustrate it. In this season of dominion, we have come to take back what the devil has stolen from us, in the name of Jesus. Help us to rule. Help us to reign in our domain, in the name of Jesus. Let every other name fade away. Let the voices of darkness be silenced forever, in the name of Jesus.
Read your Bible. Pray every day. Serve the Lord, and you will dominate. God bless you.
