Everything that I'm doing, every instruction, must be done so that you may be blessed. Some of you look at me and see a product of a certain district, and you're right. But there's something in me—something I've had for 46 years—that enables me to speak things into existence, to speak things beyond myself.
I want to tell you about the power of God's protection in our lives. The Lord is our protection and refuge, and I want to share with you some personal testimonies of how God has saved me and others from death.
We live in a world where terrible things happen. There was a tsunami in Japan, and an earthquake that destroyed buildings. People built high buildings thinking they would be protected, but the earthquake brought those buildings down. Many precious people lost their lives.
We see the suffering of nations. People run into buildings thinking they will find safety, but only God provides true protection.
There were also plane accidents. Two planes crashed on the runway, caught fire, but—praise God—over 300 people in the larger plane were protected. Not one of them died. We must continue to pray for nations like Britain, which is experiencing terrible floods. It is God who protects everybody. He is the one protecting you too, giving you food to eat and shelter as you sleep at night.
Look at what is happening in Israel and Gaza. The people in Gaza no longer have homes. When the war is over, where will they go? There are no hospitals, no safe places. These are situations where only God can provide true refuge.
I have been going through a hard period because a friend of mine was attacked by gunmen, but God saved him. I want to share with you about a time in my own life when I experienced God's protection in a miraculous way.
There are times when you are struggling alone. You may be struggling with an inner disease you don't want to tell the pastor about. You may be facing something tremendous and no one knows. You cannot always be struggling alone. You need a strong one. You need Angels in times like that.
About four or five of us were in a church building, in a room in a house. We didn't know we had enemies—people who did not want us to be married and happy. We had just gotten married, and on Saturday there was great joy. On Monday, someone threw a small party for us.
As soon as we sat down at the table to eat, the house was all open with no curtains—mainly glass around. I heard a voice telling all of us to bow down. We obeyed immediately.
Then came an incredible sound—bullets came through the windows and hit the table, hit the food that was there. When I bowed down, my food fell into the corner, and I ate while others had nothing. My wife followed me in confusion, and we both found ourselves in that corner while bullets flew around us.
The Lord saved us from that trouble. We would not be alive today if we had not obeyed that warning. One bullet went through the window—a big Church of Uganda window. One particular bullet put a clean hole in the wall. If I had not fallen down, that bullet would have hit me in the back and gone through to my chest.
My mother was seated on another chair. There was another bullet that dug a hole in the wall right where her head was. It would have hit her, and part of her head would have been taken by that bullet. But the Lord saved us that day.
It was such a confusing moment that my mother forgot my name. She called out a different name. It was a very bad experience. We had nobody to protect us—only the Holy Ghost, the Holy Spirit. And it was Him who spoke and acted. You must receive the Holy Spirit this year. The anointing must be with you at all times.
Afterwards, those guys who organized the attack—most of them are dead. They repented and came to tell me the story before they died. It had been arranged by a little group of Elders at that time. This was in 1981, just four years into my ministry, when there was only this church—the Uganda Indigenous Church.
The temptation for them was that if I were killed, they might become the new pastors. But the Lord did not allow it. Some of them did become pastors, but they failed. You cannot make a fake beginning. You must be anointed to go. You must receive a calling from God.
I treated them well. When one of them was in difficulties and in prison, I went and paid for him. I gave him money after his release. Yet I was told he was the ringleader of the group that attacked us. I'm still praying for him because his mentor is sick and locked inside the house, chained before people leave.
You must understand: you shouldn't fight God. God is so powerful. I was speaking throughout the night with our pastoring. It was incredible. But then I saw on social media people laughing and enjoying the suffering of others, losing and celebrating the struggles of church leaders.
I know someone who had been with a pastor for ten years, and that person died in a minute. What about that? I want God to protect you all because I love you with all my heart. I love all the church. I love anybody who confesses Christ as Lord.
Some of you have developed a habit of condemning each other for weaknesses or sin. When you see somebody has weakened and begun to sin, you speak publicly against them. Be kind to people. Treat them gently. Rescue them.
I saw people who are supposed to be born again—maybe pastors—instead rejoicing at terrible things that happened. Instead of having the Holy Spirit, they had human anger. But even for murderers, I pray that they may go to Heaven and repent, because to be in hell is terrible. It is not comparable to the temporary happiness you have for killing someone. When you go to hell, you will see that what took you there was not worthwhile.
Paul participated in the death of Stephen. When people saw that Paul was preaching the gospel afterwards, even the disciples could not believe it. Peter said, "No, this one shouldn't be part of us. He was part of the killing of our brother Stephen." But don't judge. Look at God. This is one of the top most examples of why we should not judge, because God may use those people again.
Judas, on the other hand, could not bear the resurrection of Jesus. He hanged himself. But Jesus is still alive and has always been alive.
Those of you who are on social media, talking about people in ugly ways when they are in trouble—I have not said anything in public since certain events happened. I don't talk about people. I don't talk about churches. I don't want to imagine that someone did this or that. That's not my job. That's the police's job.
I have been watching certain people on television going through terrible trauma. When something as simple as a plate breaks in the house, they think it's bullets and shout in fear. When something small happens, it takes them back to their trauma. It's very traumatizing.
Many years ago, I was coming back home in my new car. People didn't like that car. Some members within the church had organized to ambush me. They sent soldiers from my neighbor's house—paid them to kill me around 8 o'clock.
They stopped me with all four guns pointed at me and told me to lie down. We were in the car—two members and myself. One soldier said, "Don't kill him. Just ask for the car." They took my car. I watched them drive away with it.
But the Lord was organizing things. They drove to the compound of an LC5 who had guns and tried to take the wheels off. The LC became suspicious and fired shots. The Lord was protecting us. They ran away.
In the morning, my neighbor called and said the police had found my car. So I went and picked it up. We came back and I was driving very fast, not knowing what I was doing. For days and days, the trauma was in my mind.
But I remember this: the car was returned to me. And I compare it to how Jesus is alive and has been returned. The same thing has happened to many of you. I saw someone who had been very ill, and I prayed for him. The Lord heard the prayer and his will came back. He couldn't talk until I came and prayed, and then he was able to talk again.
I remember a scripture the Lord gave me—where the Lord says, "I struck the shepherd and the sheep were scattered." But the devil also quoted scripture. However, the Lord did not allow the devil to use that scripture. Nobody is going to scatter. Tell your neighbor: nobody's going to scatter.
I am called to be the father of every church, and I care deeply that the sheep may not scatter. Praise the Lord.
There is a man named Richard. He provided his body to protect the pastor and got seven bullets through his back—bullets that should have killed his pastor. I find this wonderful. He was buried, and the family needs a lot of prayer, including the pastor.
I saw some people supposed to be born again, maybe pastors, who instead were rejoicing that this happened. But this man lost his life to rescue the perishing. Clap for him and thank God for him.
I want you to learn from my ministry. I'm not against anyone. Even if there were sinners—I won't say their names—I don't say I support sinners, but I treat them the same as I would treat someone who is sick or poor. My job is to use the power God gave me to rescue you, not to judge you.
I saw people come here who had done terrible things. Another man came with the intention of killing me because people lied to him about me. But I treated him well. Now he's one of the men helping us with water pumping.
When somebody lies about you, people believe the story, especially if they put it in the newspaper or on television. There are laws against doing this because it hurts you. People begin to believe those stories and speak about them.
I know very well that somebody wrote a story saying I was eating human flesh, drinking blood in the choir. They said the choir could only sing because of the blood they drank. This story has been going on for many years—it started in the 80s when a group left me and decided to lie about me.
Then I learned later about claims of mass graves in this church and other churches. Everything was attacked and misunderstood. Jesus also went through that. They told many lies about him until his ministry was totally misunderstood.
Let me tell you what Jesus asked me. I was in a kind of car—a plane, really—with two other people. One looked like Jesus and the other I don't know. We were going up and up and up.
Jesus said to me, "I'm going to lift you up very high, very very high. But I want you to fear those problems that go with being so high up."
I told him, "My Lord, my King, as long as you are here with me, I will fear nothing."
Then somehow the plane vanished and Jesus vanished, and I remained. Afterwards, I began to see people writing my biography—telling the truth, changing everything that was altered by the lies told for years.
I want to pray for you that what they say about you may be altered by angels and everything be changed.
Remain where you're seated, but raise your hand.
Lord, master of heaven and earth, thank you for protecting my friend from death. Now I pray for these people who are also my friends and your friends. They are going through hardships of all sorts. I pray that you protect them too and heal them and give them money and capital and visas—all the things they need in order to survive as human beings on earth.
I pray for those who have been with us for a long time, going through many things, spoken against as if they had done those things. Father, I pray that you bless them because they stood with me. Let the Angels also stand with them under every circumstance, in the name of Jesus, the Son of the Living God. Amen.
You know, it's hard to find a lawyer who doesn't use certain words. In the same way, some of you expect me because I'm a pastor to shout blessings to you. But I say "Blessed" because Jesus is my friend.
I'm saying this because some of you think that because in other churches people shout and clap their hands and sweat, that's how you get answers from God. But when a friend of God speaks, when Jesus speaks to him originally—not secondhand—in that consideration, the angels will hear today. The angels will take those questions, those issues in the church today before the Father, and grant that those troubles will be taken away.
How many of you now know you receive what you ask? God bless you much. Amen.
