Christianity is fundamentally a covenant relationship. This means God plays His part, and you must play your part. The Bible emphasizes that wisdom is the principal thing—it is the foundation upon which everything in your life is built. Just as a business principal is what you start with, in spirituality, the Word must be the starting point.
In the beginning was the word. Anything that the word has not started in your life will not be sustained.
Wisdom is not mere knowledge or information; it is the correct application of the word. Understanding how the kingdom operates is essential. Many Christians struggle because they know facts about God but don't understand how to live in the kingdom practically.
When you are born again, you have rest in Christ, but this is only the beginning. Christ calls us to take His yoke and learn of Him. Every church should be a learning center where you learn the culture of the kingdom you have entered.
Consider someone who was a professional basketball player moving to football. The skills that earned points in basketball will get them fouled in football. They must learn the new game's rules, even though they are a professional. In the same way, understanding kingdom principles is critical.
If you don't understand, the word will not profit you.
Jesus never made things complicated. He told stories and parables—physical narratives explaining spiritual truths. If you do not understand what Jesus taught, you cannot enter into it. Psychologists have discovered that many people think they understand things they actually don't. If you truly understood prayer, you would not worry. If you understood gossip, you would not do it.
Understanding makes you outstanding.
The depth of your understanding determines the results you get. Some people hear the word repeatedly but never let it change their behavior because they don't truly understand it.
Many Christians are confused about whether we live under law or grace, works or faith. The truth is that whether Old Testament or New Testament, God relates to His people through covenant. A covenant is not about extremes; error comes when truth is taken to the extreme.
In the Old Testament, Abraham did not have the law of Moses, so he was not held to standards that did not yet exist. When Abraham called his wife his sister, God did not condemn him because the law had not been given. God introduced the law to show humanity the need for grace.
Where there is no law, there is no sin.
The sacrificial system was a shadow pointing to Christ. For 430 years before Jesus came, the Israelites slaughtered lambs that covered their sin for one year. This was never meant to be permanent—it was a type pointing to the reality.
The lamb covered our sin for a year. This one [Christ] covers our sin forever. But you wouldn't have known the value if you did not see the blood of a lamb cover your sin for a year.
When John the Baptist saw Jesus, he declared, "This is the true Lamb of God." They understood the value of the real because they had experienced the shadow.
Some preachers emphasize grace so strongly that they suggest Christians can do whatever they want. This is a distortion. Christ did not suffer and die on the cross so that believers could live carelessly and destroy what He accomplished.
How would Jesus come, suffer on the cross, die on the cross for you to be doing anything you want?
Others emphasize works so strongly that they make faith burdensome. The truth is that grace and works are not opposed—they work together in covenant.
Read Ephesians 2:10 carefully:
For we are his workmanship, recreated in Christ Jesus, that we may do those works that God predestined and planned beforehand.
You were not made born again to "behave any way." You were empowered to say no to sin. Grace is not a license; it is a teacher.
The grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us. Grace is a teacher. It helps you to get better. It doesn't leave you where you are.
Titus 2:11 makes this clear. Grace trains us and helps us progress, not stay the same. If you are where you were last year spiritually, you have not grown. God wants us to walk toward perfection, not remain stagnant.
Here is the critical principle: "Dyadic" means God has a part, and you have a part.
Anybody preaching to you that "No, no, no, you don't have to do anything. It's about God"—they are lying to you.
Many Christians believe and hope but see nothing happen because they only do God's part—they pray—without doing their part. Consider how salvation actually comes to a person:
Christ died for the whole world 2,000 years ago. But you were not automatically saved. You had to hear the word, believe it, and confess Jesus as Lord and Savior. When you did your part—confession—what Christ did 2,000 years ago was appropriated into your life.
This pattern applies to everything in the kingdom. God has made it available; you must access it through action.
Now, you know the part that thrills me about God: he never forces people. Whatever you allow, he will allow. Whatever you disallow, he will disallow.
If you choose not to believe in prosperity, God respects that choice—but you will not prosper. If you choose to keep a demon, no anointed person on earth can cast it out. Your faith activates what God has made available.
When you engage, God is committed. That's what I'm saying. My covenant I will not break on my side. I will not break. Nor alter the word that has gone out of my lips.
God established a covenant with the sun and moon. He does not wake up and decide whether He feels like letting them come out. The covenant ensures they rise. Similarly, God has covenanted with you: if you play your part, He will play His part.
In Galatians 4:1-2, Paul explains that an heir who is still a child does not differ from a slave, even though he is legally the master of everything.
Your prosperity, your deliverance, your peace will be like you're a non-believer, even though legally you are master of all.
God puts believers under pastors, guardians, and tutors until we mature. As a newborn Christian, even if you converted at fifty years old, you are a baby in the spirit. This is why Jesus said, "Take my yoke and learn of me."
When you are telling poor people about prosperity, they switch off. They think you're just prosperity preachers.
Yet most successful people did not start where they are now. Many rose from poverty to abundance. The difference is that they understood kingdom principles and took action consistently. When you play your part of the covenant, God plays His part, and results follow.
James 2:17 states clearly:
Faith by itself, without works, without corresponding action, is dead.
Here, faith means believing and trusting God. Works (ergon in Greek) means action—something that makes you move. You can imagine how many Christians operate in dead faith. They pray, shake their head, believe, but take no action. Such faith cannot move beyond your circumstances.
Because you must take action in covenant.
You cannot just believe that Christ has died and do nothing. You must confess Him as Lord and Savior. Salvation requires your participation. Everything in the kingdom requires your part.
In 1 Corinthians 15:20-23, Paul speaks of resurrection and order:
Now Christ is risen from the dead and has become firstfruits of those who are fallen asleep... Each one according to his own order.
You may look alike with your neighbor. You may come from the same village, speak the same language, attend the same school. But each person operates in a different order. The pastor lines up behind Christ as firstfruits. Your order determines your access.
My order is different. I line up behind Christ. My access to God is different. Once I do my part, things will move. I'm different.
In marriage, Ephesians 5 is clear: husbands must love their wives as Christ loved the church, and wives must submit to their husbands as the church submits to Christ. But many wait for the other person to go first.
Don't wait for one person to do it first. Just do it. Do your part.
You cannot love your wife as Christ loved the church and have crises. It is impossible. You cannot submit to your husband as the church submits to Christ and have conflict. The principle works when you do your part.
In 1 Samuel 15:23, when Saul sinned, Samuel told him:
Rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft and stubbornness is as idolatry.
Stubborn refusal to follow God's instruction is how He views it. Many marriages fail because one or both partners are against God's will.
In John 15:2, Jesus says:
Every branch in me that does not bear fruit, he takes away.
You can be in Christ and not bear fruit. Fruit-bearing is not just about buildings and cars—it includes winning souls. If your cousin is not born again and going to hell, and you have never tried to reach them, you have missed your purpose.
Your cousins are there. They are not born again. They are going to hell. All you know how to do is fight in church, gossip, talk about people's shoes and bags. That's not why Christ saved you.
But notice the next part:
Every branch in me that bears fruit, he prunes, that he may bear more fruits.
Fruit-bearing is why God left you on earth. Start bearing fruit, and you will be shocked how things come to you. Service releases covenant. It releases power, finance, and health.
In Luke 13:6-9, Jesus speaks of a fig tree planted in a vineyard. The owner keeps coming looking for fruit. After three years with no fruit, he tells the keeper of the vineyard to cut it down.
Look at verse 8: "Sir, please let it alone this year also. I will dig around and fertilize it. And if it bear fruit, well, but if not, after this, cut it down."
This is not just a story. These parables are physical narratives explaining spiritual reality. Is Christ seeking fruit in you right now and finding none? Have you never won a soul? Are you comfortable while your relatives go to hell?
You'll not be cut down. Parables are not just stories. They are physical stories explaining spiritual reality.
The Bible promises:
Those who are planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of God. Even in their old age, they shall still be bearing fruits.
When you serve the Lord with your whole heart and decide to stand against any battle that comes, you will win.
I don't know about you. I've never lost any battle before. That will be your portion. The mercy of God will speak for you.
In Philippians 2:5-7, Paul instructs:
Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus. Even though he had the form of God, he humbled himself even to the point of death.
Yet many say, "I'm in grace. I'm not supposed to serve. I just come to church, do my offering, and go." This misunderstands the kingdom entirely.
We serve to be blessed. Bible says, "Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus." We don't pray for promotion. We serve to be promoted.
When a president finishes his term, they don't blow sirens after him. Those benefits belong to the office. Similarly, if you serve in God's kingdom, you access benefits that others do not have.
When I was sick and could barely walk, God told me to go start a church in Manchester. I did it, even in weakness, because service activates the covenant. Five months later, I took a picture at Manchester United Stadium. The action released the covenant.
You get better when you're on the job. You don't even know what you're missing as a Christian.
In Exodus 23:25:
You shall serve the Lord your God. He will bless your bread and your water and take sicknesses away from your midst.
This is a principle, not just Old Testament history. God said, "Let my people go. Why? That they may serve." Not to lounge, but to serve. Covenant establishment and kingdom expansion are the reasons for wealth.
The reason why wealth comes is to expand the kingdom.
In 2 Corinthians 5:17-20, Paul writes:
If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature. All things are passed away, all things have become new. Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself and has given us the ministry of reconciliation.
This is not only for pastors. As a businessman, teacher, media person, or any profession, you have the ministry of reconciliation. You are an ambassador for Christ.
God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself. He has committed to us the word of reconciliation. We are ambassadors for Christ.
Your behavior and conduct represent Christ. Are you representing Him well? This is why dominion is not activated in some lives. They are not walking in their assignment.
I once went with my wife to preach to a young man I had never met. He was a cult member, very deeply involved. We traced his house, knocked on his door, and preached to him. He had all kinds of demonic arguments. Later, when he gave his life to Christ, he became a prayer giant.
Years afterward, he told us: "That day you came, I had smoked marijuana to overdose and commit suicide. I overslept. Your knock woke me up."
Do you know how many people that God wants to use you to save like that? Do you know how many lives?
I saw a man in London I had pastored twenty-four years earlier as a student. He was successful, his children were doing well. When I felt abandoned by God, He reminded me of all the lives I had touched. This activated His blessing in fresh ways.
All my life I worked for you. When everything settled, I saw the fruit of those years. That's when breakthrough came.
Many people are married, have children, and are doing well because someone preached to them. That person sowed a seed—they played their part, and God played His part.
In Luke 22:35, Jesus asked His disciples:
When I sent you without money, without a sack, and without sandals, did you lack anything? They said, "We lacked nothing."
The antidote to lack is sowing. Sowing.
When you begin to sow seeds into people's lives—winning souls, discipling believers, serving the kingdom—God ensures you lack nothing. It is not about self-aggrandizement; it is about the assignment.
I can never be broke because God knows I need money. When this church began to plant churches and we began to reach out more, who became richer? It's a secret. Embrace that.
In Romans 8:32:
He who did not spare His son, but delivered Him for us all. How will He not with Him give us all things?
God gave His most precious possession. What can He not give those He gave His son for?
Harvest is plentiful, but workers are few. God does not want to lose the few workers He has. If you are born again, you are the light of your family. It does not matter where you started.
If you play your part, you will see what people have not seen before. Your recipe looks like theirs, but your cake will look like theirs because you understand covenant.
Many new Christians are given to churches without discipleship. If you adopt three new believers and disciple them, God will establish His kingdom through you. Do not be a parasite—someone who takes but never contributes.
Are you a parasite? You've been a Christian for five years. By now, you should be useful to the kingdom. That's why Christ did not take you to heaven when you were born again.
If you are here and have not given your life to Christ, or if you were born again but went back, I invite you to come forward. Let's pray together publicly, not privately. Say after me:
Father, I heard your word and I believe your word. I confess Jesus as my Lord and as my Savior. From today, let no man trouble me again because I bear upon my body the mark of Christ. Thank you, Father. I believe you died for me. I believe you were buried. I believe on the third day you were raised from the dead. Therefore, everything you did by His death, burial, resurrection, and ascension, I receive today in my human spirit. From today, I'm born again. Thank you, Father. In Jesus' precious name.
