We've been teaching from the story of Saul and the Presence of God series. Last Sunday, God told Saul, "I'm about to replace you with somebody better." Today, we're going to see God anoint David—God picks David and says that David was the one He picked to be better than Saul.
If you saw a little bit of Saul in your life, wait till you see David. The more we study, uncover, and unpack the background of David, there's a little bit of David in all of us.
1 Samuel 16:1 says, "Now the Lord said to Samuel, you have mourned long enough for Saul. I have rejected him as king of Israel. So fill your flask with olive oil and go to Bethlehem. Find a man named Jesse who lives there, for I have selected one of his sons to be my king."
God tells Samuel, "Saul is done. Stop crying. Get up and get going. Go to Bethlehem. There's going to be a man by the name Jesse. I want you to get there, and I'm going to anoint one of his sons as the next king."
Now, God could have easily told Samuel which son it was going to be. The same God who called Jesse by name could have easily called David by name as well. But God didn't want to do that. God told him just Jesse because the way that God works is that there are times in your life where God will only give you part of the instruction, part of the plan, because He wants to see: are you going to be obedient enough to get the rest?
God gives you the first part and says just follow me. He told Abraham, "Abraham, I'm going to take you to a land that I'm going to show you is going to be blessed and prosperous." Abraham said, "Cool. Where I'm going?" God said, "Just start walking." Where am I stopping? You asking too many questions, Abraham. Just start walking.
Many of us are like Abraham and like Samuel where God is giving us instructions and we don't obey God the one He's given to us because we don't see the next set of instructions. But the way God said is you get more on your way but you got to get started.
God would do something like tell you to leave that relationship and then you'll be like but if I leave them who am I going to be with? He's like that's the problem. You keep asking too many questions. Let me get you out the cancer before I can get you in the promise. I can't get you to the promise because you stuck in the toxicity. You still holding on to something I can't release you from.
God said, "Start the business." "Okay, God, when I start the business, who going to help me?" Once again, wrong question. Just do what I'm telling you to do and the rest will come on the way.
Verse 2 says, "But Samuel asks, 'How can I do that? If Saul hears about it, he will kill me. Take a heifer with you, the Lord replied.'" God tells Samuel, "Go." Samuel says, "God, if I go, Saul knows I'm getting ready to anoint the next king. If Saul finds out, he's going to kill me."
God says, "Yeah, he real jealous. Because jealous people, that's what they do. They try to kill you when they're afraid of you." He says, "Okay, just tell him you going for a sacrifice."
He didn't say lie because Samuel was going for a sacrifice. He said, "Just don't tell him all your plans. Just share just a little bit." Why? Because everyone is not safe to cover your purpose. Some people will kill your purpose if it threatens their agenda.
There are some people that want to kill your purpose because they know that what God puts on the inside of you trumps what's on the inside of them. People can be afraid when they recognize what they used to have and now they see it on you.
Samuel said, "If Saul finds out, he's going to try to kill me because he knows what God did when God blessed him. So if I'm getting ready to bless somebody else, God's going to take that anointing off of him and put it on somebody else."
When people look at you and they see you obeying God and running after God, they don't like your obedience because it exposes their disobedience. You're always doing too much when you trying to live holy around people who comfortable in sin. When you a worshipper, every time they start singing, you say, "Lift your hands." It's always somebody in the back. "It don't take all that. It don't take all that for you cuz you don't got no expectation from God."
Clearly, God ain't did nothing for you, I guess. But since God did everything for me, every song that come on, I'm standing and waving my hands. I'm singing as loud as I can. I might as well be in a choir because God's done too much for me to be comfortable in worship.
Verse 4 says, "So Samuel did as the Lord instructed and when he arrived at Bethlehem, the elders of the town came trembling to meet him. They were afraid. 'What's wrong?' They asked, 'Do you come in peace?'"
They were afraid because back in these days they reverence the gift of the prophetic. The prophetic is when God begins to speak through vessels details about your life and your future that you know you did not tell them.
In the Bible days, prophets were highly respected because they weren't as many playing in the temple and they were highly respected and people honored them. This is what the enemy is trying to ruin in the church. I miss these days. I miss the days where prophets were respected. Prophets lived a life of integrity. Prophets lived above reproach. There was an honor that came on prophets.
But the enemy's tried to ruin it. He's tried to pollute the gift to make people not want the gift of prophecy anymore. Some denominations even said there are no prophets today. No apostles, no prophets, just pastors, evangelists, and teachers because they're so afraid of a polluted gift.
That's how the enemy does it. The enemy will pollute a gift to make you not want it. How does the enemy pollute a gift? He'll send you so many counterfeits that you stop looking for the real thing.
You will encounter so many fake prophets, so many false leaders, so many people who don't walk in humility that now you're like, "All fake. I don't even want it anymore." It's a lot like your love life. After you if you encountered so many phonies, you like, "I don't know if I'll ever truly want to be married in this generation. I done dealt with so many clowns and clunks ain't even funny."
The enemy tries to take away the promise because of the false experiences. If I could pollute your desire by having you experience trauma in the area that God wants to give you a gift, then you stop wanting the gift. "I no longer want it because every time I wanted it, what I received damaged me."
That's how you pollute something—by running into so many fake Jesus followers and they hurt you so much to where you think all church people fake and now you don't even want to meet. "I don't even want to hear the pastor. I don't even care at all because the last few times I was hurt, these people did this to me."
And the enemy is like perfect. Let me cause so much trauma you don't even want healing.
Verse 5 says, "Yes, so Samuel he kind of calms them. Samuel you know he a cold prophet like yes you know I came in peace I've come to sacrifice the lord he said purify yourselves and come with me to the sacrifice then Samuel performed the purification right for Jesse and his sons and invited them to the sacrifice too."
There was a purification ceremony they had in these days where they would never go in the presence of God if they haven't purified themselves.
I think that's one of the issues that's happening with church right now is that because we said come as you are you think you should stay as you are.
Because God loves you as you are, you like, "Well, God love me as I am, so why should I change?" And that's where you going to miss God. You think because you got invited to the wedding, you don't got to change your clothes. But that's not the way that it works.
When the prodigal son came back home, he was covered in dirt and mud and was filthy. And that didn't bother the father. The father ran to him and hugged him and loved him. But the father didn't leave him how he found him. He said, "Go get him some new clothes. Go get him some new shoes. Go get him a ring."
"It's okay for you to come to me dirty, but you shouldn't be a year in the same sins I found you in."
Verse 6 says, "When they arrived, Samuel took one look at Eliab and thought, surely this is the Lord's anointed."
Eliab looked like Saul. Remember Saul was tall, head and shoulders above everybody else. He was a tall king. And that was one of the things that stood out when God picked Saul as king. He was tall and everybody looked at him like you could have to look up to him because of his height and his statue. They're like, "Yeah, he looks like a king."
So when Samuel saw Eliab, Eliab looks like Saul. And so Samuel's thinking like the future king looks like the past king. And it's tricking him because he's expecting that what God's going to do in the future has to look something like his past.
You got to pay attention to this. This is why you never judge what God is going to do in your future based on what you've seen God do in your past. Well, this is how God usually speaks to me. That doesn't mean that God's going to keep speaking that way. Well, this is how I saw it happen. This is how my mom did it doesn't mean that's what God's going to keep doing.
Just because God did something in the past doesn't mean God's going to keep doing it the same way in the future. God likes to do new things. He enjoys doing new things.
Isaiah 43:19 says, "For I'm about to do something new. See, I've already begun."
God says, "I'm getting ready to do something new in your life. Yeah, your life has been painful. Yes, you've experienced trauma. Yeah, you've had some dead days. Yeah, you had days where you were filled with tears. But please don't look at your past and start projecting it on your future. I'm getting ready to do something new.
"All the dreams I gave you are still coming to pass. All the promises I gave you are still coming to pass. Everything I said I was going to do, I'mma do it, but I'mma do it in a brand new way. Somebody say brand new. I'mma do it in a brand new."
Samuel's eyes tricked him. He looked at Elab and Elab said, "Okay, you know, that's God's anointing because he looks just like Saul." And this is how our eyes can deceive any of us. If you're just judging life based on what you see, you're missing God the whole time.
Samuel thought based on how he looked that God was going to anoint him. And this is why you can't judge people by human standards. You got to make sure you have discernment. You got to make sure that you're seeing people the way that God sees them.
1 Corinthians 4:5 says it this way: "Don't make judgments about anyone ahead of time." That's your problem. You keep making conclusive judgments about people and you counted out God. God is not done with them. The same way God is not done with you.
You can't judge people because they're crazy now. Look at how crazy you used to be. Some of you saved and you still crazy. If God can use you, then why can't God use them? This is why you can't make judgments about people.
"Well, I heard that." That's your problem. You still going by what you hearing and not by what God is saying. You got to come out of the gossip street and start seeing people the way that God sees them.
"Well, I feel it." It ain't about what you feel. It's about what God is discerning. Please don't judge somebody based on your emotions. Your emotions will trick you and lie to you. You got to have the spirit of discernment—being able to discern beyond your eyes.
1 Samuel 16:7 says, "But the Lord said to Samuel, don't judge by his appearance or height, cuz he was tall like Saul. For I have rejected him. The Lord does not see things the way that you see them. People judge by the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart."
This is one of the main reasons why I say the church got to get better. This is why we keep the service dark. Because I'm telling you, I met so many people when we were evangelized and said, "Man, I tried to go to church, but when I walked up in there, everybody looked at me like I was crazy. Everybody looked at me like I stole something."
I said, "You want to know why? Because people judge by outward appearance. While God is looking at your heart, you may not have it all together on the outside, but your heart may be cleaner than some of the people in the building."
Eliab look like Sauce, so Samuel's holding on to him. "Yeah, it's going to be the anointed one." And what if we are holding on to someone that the Lord has rejected, holding on to it. And you know, I'm like, man, God been telling me, but I'm just I'm just holding on cuz it's it's what I'm used to. It's what I've been with. It's what I'm comfortable with. They know me. I don't want to start over. I'm holding on to something that God has rejected and wondering why God won't bless what he hasn't accepted.
The Lord steps in. He says, "I don't see things the way people see them. Don't look at his outward appearance. That's your problem, Samuel. You're a prophet. You have to stay anointed. You got to be able to look beyond the outward exterior and see what's happening inside the heart."
God's judgment is different from ours. I want to encourage you. It doesn't matter who's judged you. God is not the one condemning you. His judgment is different than mankind's. His judgment is different than religious people. His judgment is different than those who look at you and judge what you've been through and don't know the heart you've had to carry and tried to keep and tried to protect while going through everything you've been through.
Isaiah 55:8 says it this way: "My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts, says the Lord. My ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts."
God says, "I'm not judging the way the people look at you. I want to set somebody free right now because you've lived a life where you made a lot of mistakes and right now you can feel the judgment when people look at you."
I feel this so prophetic in the room, but you've made mistakes. Maybe you're a man, a woman, and people know what you did. Okay, yeah, I did. I made a lot of mistakes. And it's almost like you keep repeating the mistakes because that's what people expect of you.
And God is saying, "I don't look at the outward appearance. My ways are higher than people's ways. I'm judging you based on a different criteria. All you got to tell me is you want to be different. All you have to say is you want to be changed and God can change you."
When the Bible says people judge by appearance, God was talking about you, me, and us. He wasn't excluding anybody. This is why you have to ask the Holy Spirit to help you to see people differently. You have to because if you don't, you've been judging people your whole life and you just don't know it.
Judgment is actually healthy. You've done it in healthy situations. If I'm walking down the street at 1:00 in the morning and four men walking up the street with hoodies on, my judgment says they're up to no good. I'mma get back in my car or cross the street or go on Walgreens and wait till the police show up. I'm going to do something with wisdom. And that judgment has helped me.
But what I don't know is that I've lived my whole life judging. Sometimes I'm judging even when I shouldn't be. Sometimes we're judging and we don't even know. Well, I'm just caught in it like I see it. No, you're judgmental and hiding what you had. Don't call it like you see it in them. Call it like you see it in you. Let me see you call some stuff out in you and then I can respect what you call out. Be honest about yourself, real about yourself.
That's when I get on the stage and I preach about my life and what God had to do for me. I ain't trying to be messy or talk about nobody else. I like using my mistakes as an example because that's what any real person wants to do—not typecast on other people, but talk about how God delivered them, how God set them free.
Verse 8 says, "Then Jesse told his son Abinadab to step forward and to walk in front of Samuel. But Samuel said, 'This is not the one the Lord has chosen.' He said, 'Okay, let me get another one.' Next, Jesse summoned Shemia. And Samuel said, 'Neither is this one the one the Lord has chosen.' And in the same way, seven, all seven of Jesse's sons were presented to Samuel. But Samuel said to Jesse, 'The Lord has not chosen any of these.'"
You notice that Jesse picked the sons he thought God would choose. That's what we do in our head. We already got picked out who we think is qualified. I think they should be next. I think it should be them. Why they couldn't just be them? Why they could just be elevated? Why they couldn't lead the team?
In our mind, we start picking who we think should be the next one. Especially parents, all parents in the room, if you were to be real, it's like you kind of know which one of your kids is the smart one and which one of them you know something—you know if they got a C in math you like that's you good job you did good like you got to just know like now like the one that can get A's they got a B you like I don't accept this from you cuz I know you got it but him he's going to play sports.
We kind of know where our kids are. Jesse is picking his sons based on his mindsets hierarchy for them. He's picking who he thinks will be next. And this is why you got to be careful how you treat your kids because the one kid you overlook, it might be the kid that builds a legacy for your family and for your name.
It may be the one kid you thought wasn't that smart. They really they was in a bad school that didn't appreciate their level of understanding and the way that they learn, and they grow up to be the one kid you say, "I never I never thought it was going to be you."
And that be the seed that God used to make your name great.
Verse 11 says, "Samuel asks, 'Are these all the sons you have?' Jesse, um there was one more, the young the young one."
Let me show you how God is exposing Jesse's secret right now. See, nobody was supposed to know about David. If I told you, "Hey, uh, God told me to come in your house and anoint one of your kids to be the next president of the United States. God said, 'Get all your kids in the house. When I get there, I'm going to pray for them, and God's going to show me who to anoint to be the next president.' And you're like, 'One of my kids? All right, cool. You get all your kids in the house.'
And then I get there and I get through seven kids and I'm like, "Bro, these all the kids you got?" Your wife right there, too. These all your kids? Like my my youngest son in Chicago, you know, like he his mom a little different. It's different different situation. I'm going to talk to you on the side. The prophet is exposing this secret.
He said, "You got this all." He said, "I got one more here in the back." He's like, "If I told you to get all your sons, why did you hide one? Why do all seven of these sons you put in the army and they all got the same height and they all look the same and they're all named the same but this one looked different than all of them and you wouldn't register him to be a soldier. You made him be a shepherd. You hid him in the back when I said get all your kids. You purposely left one in the backyard. Why? Because God's getting ready to expose something that you tried to keep as a secret."
He said that's—I'm going to bring this thing up. I'm going to expose this thing. And he says go. He's—forgive me. He said Jesse says he's out in the fields watching the sheep and the goats. And Samuel says this, "Go send for him at once. We will not sit down until he arrives."
Now look at this. He says, "Nobody in a house sits down to eat until the son you try to ignore is brought in the house." I'm trying not to preach this. I'm trying not to.
And to the one that you tried to overlook and keep as a secret, that's the one God's getting ready to pick. And I'm saying this to somebody in the room because some of you are a David. Because in the family, you were the child that wasn't planned. And you were the one that came out of somebody's mistake and they tried to treat you like you were a mistake.
This ain't for everybody, but you know who I'm talking to. I want you to know that God will pick the one that the family tried to ignore and the family talked bad about and the family overlooked and God will anoint you to be the blessing for the family.
He says he says nobody sits down, nobody eats until David gets in the house. That this is God exposing Jesse's secret. David was the one that was overlooked. For the ones in the room, if I were to name this sermon a different title, I would say for the overlooked in the room cuz David was the one that was overlooked.
That he hears it. You think David in the backyard? He can't hear what's going on. You the whole town knew Samuel was there. You think David was in the backyard not knowing that Samuel was in the house? You think David was in the backyard? You think he doesn't hear the music? He doesn't smell the food being prepared. He doesn't see his other brothers go get in the shower, go change their clothes, go get ready to be anointed, and he's left in the backyard with the sheep in the backyard with the goat.
You don't think he felt overlooked when the whole house, the whole family is in the house and he's left outside in the grass. He felt overlooked.
But even though Jesse left David out, God didn't leave him out. God said, "David, I see you. Even if your father won't acknowledge you, David, I see you. Even if your dad showed up for his other kids but left you out, David, I see you. Even if you feel all alone in this earth, David, I see you. Even if you don't look like none of your siblings, act like none of your siblings, still know I chose you for something special."
This is why I say, don't let anybody make you feel like you're insignificant. Don't let anybody make you feel like you're not important. Don't let anybody make you feel like your voice doesn't matter. God created you with deep value and deep purpose.
I need you to be open to this. I need you to receive it that even though the beginning of your life has felt insignificant, that God can make the latter greater. That God can increase you.
And Samuel says, "But nobody will sit down to eat until he arrives." And they left David out, but God made sure that nobody ate till David got there. I've been releasing the words to people that you can't eat till God let me get in the room.
He says, "You can't disqualify who God has called." This is why you have to be careful how you handle people. Because even though they tried to leave him out, you can't disqualify who God has called. Even if you don't invite me, God still sends me an invitation.
Verse 12 and 13: "So Jesse sent for him and he was dark and handsome. Hallelujah. Sound like my cousin. You know what I'm saying? We all look the same in the lock family a little bit. He said he was dark and handsome with beautiful eyes and the Lord said this is the one anoint him."
Now it's funny because you know David don't look like none of them. It's funny that they call him handsome because when you call him handsome you kind of saying the other ones was ugly a little bit I think. I don't know it's interpolation but he was dark. He was handsome and God says anoint him.
I love this because the Bible points out his looks for a reason to show you that you can take care of yourself and still be anointed. You know, I was raised in a generation of church that act like once you got saved, you had to get ugly. You know what I'm saying?
Like women couldn't wear makeup. They couldn't put on lipstick. You put on red lipstick like, "Yeah, you going straight to hell." Got that red on like a devil. I'm like, you can't you can't look nice now that you saved. Looking nice goes out the window. I should be ashy and here undone. Now I should be John the Baptist all the time now that I'm saved.
There's this there's this false expectation that means loving God means you lose your your outward appearance and your value. And that isn't true. God just doesn't want you worshiping how you look. Some of us are so focused on how we look on the outside, we forget we ugly on the inside. Amen. Amen. Okay.
Verse 13, my last verse. It says, "So as David stood there among his brothers, Samuel took the flask of olive oil that he had brought and he anointed David with the oil. Spirit of the Lord came powerfully on David from that day on. And then Samuel returned to Rama."
Now I read the verse fast. I'm going to read it slower so you can catch what just happened. And it says, "So as David stood there among his brothers," that this was based on the text probably the first time David was ever able to stand among his brothers.
He was the secret. Jesse was a preacher, had a son on the outside. This was a secret. This is a secret. David had to be in the background. Nobody ever knew about David. So the brothers were all trained to go to war, but David's name was never declared. They kept him in the backyard.
And this is the first time ever that he's able to stand with his brothers. I know that we read the scripture fast, but I need you to pause for a moment and imagine what emotions are going through you. The first time they have to acknowledge you, the first time they got to accept he's one of us. The first time they have to acknowledge it, he's standing amongst his brothers.
And not only do they have to acknowledge it, they have to acknowledge the one we overlooked is the one God picked.
This is the God of recompense we're preaching about. This is the God who says, "Don't worry about how they treat you. I'm going to pay you back double for everything that you went through. It may feel like it's hurting now. There may be tears that you're shedding right now, but please know that joy is coming. Just trust me."
And it says that David is standing amongst his brothers. Understand the trauma he had to live through to get to this moment. He's standing amongst his brothers and the prophet begins to pour oil on him. He begins to bless him.
I can imagine the tears rolling down David's face because I'm not a secret anymore. The tears rolling down his face as the man of God is pouring oil on him. Why would tears be rolling down David's face? Because no matter how much you deny it, there's a deep desire in all of us. There's a deep longing in all of us to be loved and to be wanted.
If you don't want to be loved and you don't want to be wanted, that's only because trauma made you start to reject it. Trauma made you say, "I don't want it anymore." Because you didn't have it. You were forced to live without it. You were forced to exist without it. So, you created a new existence of living a life without true love.
But inside of every single kid, inside of every son, every daughter is a desire to be loved by their family and to be loved by their father, to be recognized by their father, to say, "I love you. I see you. I value you. You're good."
It says, "So Samuel takes the oil and pours it on him and he anoints David with the oil and the spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon David from that day on."
I need you to catch this because the oil was important, but what was more important was that when the oil came, the Holy Spirit followed. Amen.
Says, "The spirit of the Lord came powerfully on David." And David went from being this rejected hidden boy to being this anointed king who's led by God.
And I need you to catch this. We've had so many baptisms. We had so many people, you know, going in the water and coming up new life, new person. And I want to tell you, congratulations. I'm proud of you. But I would be a terrible pastor if I didn't tell you the thing you really need is to be baptized with the Holy Spirit. That's what you really really need.
If if if you were to say, "Pastor, what do I need?" What would you say? What would you say, "Pastor, to every member, what's one piece of advice that you would give?" If I was not going to be here ever again and I had to leave you with one word, I would tell you, do not live this life without the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit is your teacher. He's your comforter. He's your guide. He's the one that will lead you and guide you into all truth. When lies are all around you, the spirit of truth will remain. The Bible says he will help you.
And so many of you, if you're trying to live this life with God, but without the Holy Spirit, it's impossible. Hear me. It's not just hard. It's impossible. You were never able to beat you in your own strength.
That's right. You you you've always lost to you—to your whims, to your impulses, to your desires, to your anger, to your emotions, to your bitterness. You've always lost to you. And you don't know how to beat you. That's why Jesus died and said, 'I'm going to send another comforter.'
He says, "Don't go anywhere. Don't do anything until you receive that comforter—the Paraclete, the advocate, the Holy Spirit. When he comes into your life, the world can't receive him because they didn't know him."
He said, "But you will because you know me and I love you. You'll receive the Holy Spirit."
I want to pray for you. I want everybody to stand at this time. I'm going to pray a very simple prayer, but it's for every person in the room.
Number one, heavenly father, I want to pray for those who have the Holy Spirit already. I pray God that we will stop ignoring you, Holy Spirit. Your word declares, "And grieve not the Holy Spirit." God, may our lifestyles never grieve you. May you not have to scream because we won't listen to the whisper. May we never choose a lifestyle of sin and make you hurt while having to live with us and experience it with us. May we never grieve you. May our lives turn to a place of radical submission and radical obedience.
For those in the room, I also pray for those who don't have the Holy Spirit today. How hard is life, God, without your spirit helping us? It's just too hard. You said that you would send the comforter, the helper, the Paraclete, the spirit of truth.
Lord, we pray right now that you would endow your spirit on those in the room who need you. This is not anything that any man can give them. God, only you can give them this.
If you feel you need the Holy Spirit, just raise your hand right now. If you feel if you don't know, if you're unsure, just raise your hand. Just raise your hand. Father, for every hand that's raised right now, you declare, God, that all we had to do was ask. You said we don't got to do nothing extra. It don't got to be all fancy. All we have to do is ask for the Holy Spirit. And you said you will give it because it's a good gift. It's a gift you want us to have.
And so every hand, God, is a sign that they are asking. It's a signal that they need you. Now, God, may the spirit of joy baptize them. May the spirit of power baptize them. May the power of the Holy Ghost endow them right now, Lord God. They cannot live this life without you.
David cannot be anointed without the Holy Spirit. So Lord, pour your spirit in this room and heal those who need you right now. Lord God, may their lives forever be different. May you give them access to gifts they never would have thought they would have had. God, may you begin to be in their life, in their room, in their car, in their homes, in ways they've never experienced before.
May you do what only you can do. In Yeshua's name we pray. God's people said amen.
I want to do two things really quickly while you're standing. Two things. One, if you never got a chance to say yes to Jesus. Maybe this prayer didn't mean anything because you're like, I'm I don't know where I stand with God. And that's okay. It's okay to say that I just don't want you to stay that way.
If you don't know where you stand with the Lord or you want to give your life to Jesus, this is your moment to just step out, be bold, and say, you know what? I want to give my life to Christ. Just come to the front right now and just say, you know what? I want to give my life to Jesus. I want my life to be different. I want my life to be changed. I'm ready to be different today. I'm ready.
If you're looking for a church home and you want this church to be your church home, you also can come at this time. Any person that's saying yes to Jesus. Thank you. I see you. Any person that's saying yes to the Lord, any person that says, "I need a church. On pastor, just come right now. Just be bold and step out and say, "It's me. It's me. It's me. It's me."
To the overlooked in the room, God is not looking over you. He's choosing you right now. Maybe your family didn't choose you. Maybe your father didn't choose you, but God is choosing you. God is choosing you. God is choosing you. He's calling you. He's calling you. He's calling you.
You feel the tug of God on your heart. Don't let fear stop you. Don't let fear grip you. Just say, "You know what, Lord? I feel you pulling on me and I'm saying yes to you. I'm getting ready to come down." Hallelujah.
I'm going to stay here because I want to pray with the intercessors. If you need prayer, maybe this message touched you. Maybe it was you that needed something. Or maybe you need prayer for healing. God is a healer. I I don't have time to share with you all the testimonies we've seen, but if you would just just dare to believe, God, just dare to believe that the work of the cross was a finished work and that God is going to heal you.
If you just give God a chance, God will blow your mind at what he can do.
Father, may you move in ways, God, that blows our mind. And you said what eyes haven't seen, ears haven't heard, what hasn't even entered into the hearts of men. God, you're getting ready to do that.
We've been teaching from the story of Saul and the Presence of God series. Last Sunday, God told Saul, "I'm about to replace you with somebody better." Today, we're going to see God anoint David—God picks David and says that David was the one He picked to be better than Saul.
If you saw a little bit of Saul in your life, wait till you see David. The more we study, uncover, and unpack the background of David, there's a little bit of David in all of us.
1 Samuel 16:1 says, "Now the Lord said to Samuel, you have mourned long enough for Saul. I have rejected him as king of Israel. So fill your flask with olive oil and go to Bethlehem. Find a man named Jesse who lives there, for I have selected one of his sons to be my king."
God tells Samuel, "Saul is done. Stop crying. Get up and get going. Go to Bethlehem. There's going to be a man by the name Jesse. I want you to get there, and I'm going to anoint one of his sons as the next king."
Now, God could have easily told Samuel which son it was going to be. The same God who called Jesse by name could have easily called David by name as well. But God didn't want to do that. God told him just Jesse because the way that God works is that there are times in your life where God will only give you part of the instruction, part of the plan, because He wants to see: are you going to be obedient enough to get the rest?
God gives you the first part and says just follow me. He told Abraham, "Abraham, I'm going to take you to a land that I'm going to show you is going to be blessed and prosperous." Abraham said, "Cool. Where I'm going?" God said, "Just start walking." Where am I stopping? You asking too many questions, Abraham. Just start walking.
Many of us are like Abraham and like Samuel where God is giving us instructions and we don't obey God the one He's given to us because we don't see the next set of instructions. But the way God said is you get more on your way but you got to get started.
God would do something like tell you to leave that relationship and then you'll be like but if I leave them who am I going to be with? He's like that's the problem. You keep asking too many questions. Let me get you out the cancer before I can get you in the promise. I can't get you to the promise because you stuck in the toxicity. You still holding on to something I can't release you from.
God said, "Start the business." "Okay, God, when I start the business, who going to help me?" Once again, wrong question. Just do what I'm telling you to do and the rest will come on the way.
Verse 2 says, "But Samuel asks, 'How can I do that? If Saul hears about it, he will kill me. Take a heifer with you, the Lord replied.'" God tells Samuel, "Go." Samuel says, "God, if I go, Saul knows I'm getting ready to anoint the next king. If Saul finds out, he's going to kill me."
God says, "Yeah, he real jealous. Because jealous people, that's what they do. They try to kill you when they're afraid of you." He says, "Okay, just tell him you going for a sacrifice."
He didn't say lie because Samuel was going for a sacrifice. He said, "Just don't tell him all your plans. Just share just a little bit." Why? Because everyone is not safe to cover your purpose. Some people will kill your purpose if it threatens their agenda.
There are some people that want to kill your purpose because they know that what God puts on the inside of you trumps what's on the inside of them. People can be afraid when they recognize what they used to have and now they see it on you.
Samuel said, "If Saul finds out, he's going to try to kill me because he knows what God did when God blessed him. So if I'm getting ready to bless somebody else, God's going to take that anointing off of him and put it on somebody else."
When people look at you and they see you obeying God and running after God, they don't like your obedience because it exposes their disobedience. You're always doing too much when you trying to live holy around people who comfortable in sin. When you a worshipper, every time they start singing, you say, "Lift your hands." It's always somebody in the back. "It don't take all that. It don't take all that for you cuz you don't got no expectation from God."
Clearly, God ain't did nothing for you, I guess. But since God did everything for me, every song that come on, I'm standing and waving my hands. I'm singing as loud as I can. I might as well be in a choir because God's done too much for me to be comfortable in worship.
Verse 4 says, "So Samuel did as the Lord instructed and when he arrived at Bethlehem, the elders of the town came trembling to meet him. They were afraid. 'What's wrong?' They asked, 'Do you come in peace?'"
They were afraid because back in these days they reverence the gift of the prophetic. The prophetic is when God begins to speak through vessels details about your life and your future that you know you did not tell them.
In the Bible days, prophets were highly respected because they weren't as many playing in the temple and they were highly respected and people honored them. This is what the enemy is trying to ruin in the church. I miss these days. I miss the days where prophets were respected. Prophets lived a life of integrity. Prophets lived above reproach. There was an honor that came on prophets.
But the enemy's tried to ruin it. He's tried to pollute the gift to make people not want the gift of prophecy anymore. Some denominations even said there are no prophets today. No apostles, no prophets, just pastors, evangelists, and teachers because they're so afraid of a polluted gift.
That's how the enemy does it. The enemy will pollute a gift to make you not want it. How does the enemy pollute a gift? He'll send you so many counterfeits that you stop looking for the real thing.
You will encounter so many fake prophets, so many false leaders, so many people who don't walk in humility that now you're like, "All fake. I don't even want it anymore." It's a lot like your love life. After you if you encountered so many phonies, you like, "I don't know if I'll ever truly want to be married in this generation. I done dealt with so many clowns and clunks ain't even funny."
The enemy tries to take away the promise because of the false experiences. If I could pollute your desire by having you experience trauma in the area that God wants to give you a gift, then you stop wanting the gift. "I no longer want it because every time I wanted it, what I received damaged me."
That's how you pollute something—by running into so many fake Jesus followers and they hurt you so much to where you think all church people fake and now you don't even want to meet. "I don't even want to hear the pastor. I don't even care at all because the last few times I was hurt, these people did this to me."
And the enemy is like perfect. Let me cause so much trauma you don't even want healing.
Verse 5 says, "Yes, so Samuel he kind of calms them. Samuel you know he a cold prophet like yes you know I came in peace I've come to sacrifice the lord he said purify yourselves and come with me to the sacrifice then Samuel performed the purification right for Jesse and his sons and invited them to the sacrifice too."
There was a purification ceremony they had in these days where they would never go in the presence of God if they haven't purified themselves.
I think that's one of the issues that's happening with church right now is that because we said come as you are you think you should stay as you are.
Because God loves you as you are, you like, "Well, God love me as I am, so why should I change?" And that's where you going to miss God. You think because you got invited to the wedding, you don't got to change your clothes. But that's not the way that it works.
When the prodigal son came back home, he was covered in dirt and mud and was filthy. And that didn't bother the father. The father ran to him and hugged him and loved him. But the father didn't leave him how he found him. He said, "Go get him some new clothes. Go get him some new shoes. Go get him a ring."
"It's okay for you to come to me dirty, but you shouldn't be a year in the same sins I found you in."
Verse 6 says, "When they arrived, Samuel took one look at Eliab and thought, surely this is the Lord's anointed."
Eliab looked like Saul. Remember Saul was tall, head and shoulders above everybody else. He was a tall king. And that was one of the things that stood out when God picked Saul as king. He was tall and everybody looked at him like you could have to look up to him because of his height and his statue. They're like, "Yeah, he looks like a king."
So when Samuel saw Eliab, Eliab looks like Saul. And so Samuel's thinking like the future king looks like the past king. And it's tricking him because he's expecting that what God's going to do in the future has to look something like his past.
You got to pay attention to this. This is why you never judge what God is going to do in your future based on what you've seen God do in your past. Well, this is how God usually speaks to me. That doesn't mean that God's going to keep speaking that way. Well, this is how I saw it happen. This is how my mom did it doesn't mean that's what God's going to keep doing.
Just because God did something in the past doesn't mean God's going to keep doing it the same way in the future. God likes to do new things. He enjoys doing new things.
Isaiah 43:19 says, "For I'm about to do something new. See, I've already begun."
God says, "I'm getting ready to do something new in your life. Yeah, your life has been painful. Yes, you've experienced trauma. Yeah, you've had some dead days. Yeah, you had days where you were filled with tears. But please don't look at your past and start projecting it on your future. I'm getting ready to do something new.
"All the dreams I gave you are still coming to pass. All the promises I gave you are still coming to pass. Everything I said I was going to do, I'mma do it, but I'mma do it in a brand new way. Somebody say brand new. I'mma do it in a brand new."
Samuel's eyes tricked him. He looked at Elab and Elab said, "Okay, you know, that's God's anointing because he looks just like Saul." And this is how our eyes can deceive any of us. If you're just judging life based on what you see, you're missing God the whole time.
Samuel thought based on how he looked that God was going to anoint him. And this is why you can't judge people by human standards. You got to make sure you have discernment. You got to make sure that you're seeing people the way that God sees them.
1 Corinthians 4:5 says it this way: "Don't make judgments about anyone ahead of time." That's your problem. You keep making conclusive judgments about people and you counted out God. God is not done with them. The same way God is not done with you.
You can't judge people because they're crazy now. Look at how crazy you used to be. Some of you saved and you still crazy. If God can use you, then why can't God use them? This is why you can't make judgments about people.
"Well, I heard that." That's your problem. You still going by what you hearing and not by what God is saying. You got to come out of the gossip street and start seeing people the way that God sees them.
"Well, I feel it." It ain't about what you feel. It's about what God is discerning. Please don't judge somebody based on your emotions. Your emotions will trick you and lie to you. You got to have the spirit of discernment—being able to discern beyond your eyes.
1 Samuel 16:7 says, "But the Lord said to Samuel, don't judge by his appearance or height, cuz he was tall like Saul. For I have rejected him. The Lord does not see things the way that you see them. People judge by the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart."
This is one of the main reasons why I say the church got to get better. This is why we keep the service dark. Because I'm telling you, I met so many people when we were evangelized and said, "Man, I tried to go to church, but when I walked up in there, everybody looked at me like I was crazy. Everybody looked at me like I stole something."
I said, "You want to know why? Because people judge by outward appearance. While God is looking at your heart, you may not have it all together on the outside, but your heart may be cleaner than some of the people in the building."
Eliab look like Sauce, so Samuel's holding on to him. "Yeah, it's going to be the anointed one." And what if we are holding on to someone that the Lord has rejected, holding on to it. And you know, I'm like, man, God been telling me, but I'm just I'm just holding on cuz it's it's what I'm used to. It's what I've been with. It's what I'm comfortable with. They know me. I don't want to start over. I'm holding on to something that God has rejected and wondering why God won't bless what he hasn't accepted.
The Lord steps in. He says, "I don't see things the way people see them. Don't look at his outward appearance. That's your problem, Samuel. You're a prophet. You have to stay anointed. You got to be able to look beyond the outward exterior and see what's happening inside the heart."
God's judgment is different from ours. I want to encourage you. It doesn't matter who's judged you. God is not the one condemning you. His judgment is different than mankind's. His judgment is different than religious people. His judgment is different than those who look at you and judge what you've been through and don't know the heart you've had to carry and tried to keep and tried to protect while going through everything you've been through.
Isaiah 55:8 says it this way: "My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts, says the Lord. My ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts."
God says, "I'm not judging the way the people look at you. I want to set somebody free right now because you've lived a life where you made a lot of mistakes and right now you can feel the judgment when people look at you."
I feel this so prophetic in the room, but you've made mistakes. Maybe you're a man, a woman, and people know what you did. Okay, yeah, I did. I made a lot of mistakes. And it's almost like you keep repeating the mistakes because that's what people expect of you.
And God is saying, "I don't look at the outward appearance. My ways are higher than people's ways. I'm judging you based on a different criteria. All you got to tell me is you want to be different. All you have to say is you want to be changed and God can change you."
When the Bible says people judge by appearance, God was talking about you, me, and us. He wasn't excluding anybody. This is why you have to ask the Holy Spirit to help you to see people differently. You have to because if you don't, you've been judging people your whole life and you just don't know it.
Judgment is actually healthy. You've done it in healthy situations. If I'm walking down the street at 1:00 in the morning and four men walking up the street with hoodies on, my judgment says they're up to no good. I'mma get back in my car or cross the street or go on Walgreens and wait till the police show up. I'm going to do something with wisdom. And that judgment has helped me.
But what I don't know is that I've lived my whole life judging. Sometimes I'm judging even when I shouldn't be. Sometimes we're judging and we don't even know. Well, I'm just caught in it like I see it. No, you're judgmental and hiding what you had. Don't call it like you see it in them. Call it like you see it in you. Let me see you call some stuff out in you and then I can respect what you call out. Be honest about yourself, real about yourself.
That's when I get on the stage and I preach about my life and what God had to do for me. I ain't trying to be messy or talk about nobody else. I like using my mistakes as an example because that's what any real person wants to do—not typecast on other people, but talk about how God delivered them, how God set them free.
Verse 8 says, "Then Jesse told his son Abinadab to step forward and to walk in front of Samuel. But Samuel said, 'This is not the one the Lord has chosen.' He said, 'Okay, let me get another one.' Next, Jesse summoned Shemia. And Samuel said, 'Neither is this one the one the Lord has chosen.' And in the same way, seven, all seven of Jesse's sons were presented to Samuel. But Samuel said to Jesse, 'The Lord has not chosen any of these.'"
You notice that Jesse picked the sons he thought God would choose. That's what we do in our head. We already got picked out who we think is qualified. I think they should be next. I think it should be them. Why they couldn't just be them? Why they could just be elevated? Why they couldn't lead the team?
In our mind, we start picking who we think should be the next one. Especially parents, all parents in the room, if you were to be real, it's like you kind of know which one of your kids is the smart one and which one of them you know something—you know if they got a C in math you like that's you good job you did good like you got to just know like now like the one that can get A's they got a B you like I don't accept this from you cuz I know you got it but him he's going to play sports.
We kind of know where our kids are. Jesse is picking his sons based on his mindsets hierarchy for them. He's picking who he thinks will be next. And this is why you got to be careful how you treat your kids because the one kid you overlook, it might be the kid that builds a legacy for your family and for your name.
It may be the one kid you thought wasn't that smart. They really they was in a bad school that didn't appreciate their level of understanding and the way that they learn, and they grow up to be the one kid you say, "I never I never thought it was going to be you."
And that be the seed that God used to make your name great.
Verse 11 says, "Samuel asks, 'Are these all the sons you have?' Jesse, um there was one more, the young the young one."
Let me show you how God is exposing Jesse's secret right now. See, nobody was supposed to know about David. If I told you, "Hey, uh, God told me to come in your house and anoint one of your kids to be the next president of the United States. God said, 'Get all your kids in the house. When I get there, I'm going to pray for them, and God's going to show me who to anoint to be the next president.' And you're like, 'One of my kids? All right, cool. You get all your kids in the house.'
And then I get there and I get through seven kids and I'm like, "Bro, these all the kids you got?" Your wife right there, too. These all your kids? Like my my youngest son in Chicago, you know, like he his mom a little different. It's different different situation. I'm going to talk to you on the side. The prophet is exposing this secret.
He said, "You got this all." He said, "I got one more here in the back." He's like, "If I told you to get all your sons, why did you hide one? Why do all seven of these sons you put in the army and they all got the same height and they all look the same and they're all named the same but this one looked different than all of them and you wouldn't register him to be a soldier. You made him be a shepherd. You hid him in the back when I said get all your kids. You purposely left one in the backyard. Why? Because God's getting ready to expose something that you tried to keep as a secret."
He said that's—I'm going to bring this thing up. I'm going to expose this thing. And he says go. He's—forgive me. He said Jesse says he's out in the fields watching the sheep and the goats. And Samuel says this, "Go send for him at once. We will not sit down until he arrives."
Now look at this. He says, "Nobody in a house sits down to eat until the son you try to ignore is brought in the house." I'm trying not to preach this. I'm trying not to.
And to the one that you tried to overlook and keep as a secret, that's the one God's getting ready to pick. And I'm saying this to somebody in the room because some of you are a David. Because in the family, you were the child that wasn't planned. And you were the one that came out of somebody's mistake and they tried to treat you like you were a mistake.
This ain't for everybody, but you know who I'm talking to. I want you to know that God will pick the one that the family tried to ignore and the family talked bad about and the family overlooked and God will anoint you to be the blessing for the family.
He says he says nobody sits down, nobody eats until David gets in the house. That this is God exposing Jesse's secret. David was the one that was overlooked. For the ones in the room, if I were to name this sermon a different title, I would say for the overlooked in the room cuz David was the one that was overlooked.
That he hears it. You think David in the backyard? He can't hear what's going on. You the whole town knew Samuel was there. You think David was in the backyard not knowing that Samuel was in the house? You think David was in the backyard? You think he doesn't hear the music? He doesn't smell the food being prepared. He doesn't see his other brothers go get in the shower, go change their clothes, go get ready to be anointed, and he's left in the backyard with the sheep in the backyard with the goat.
You don't think he felt overlooked when the whole house, the whole family is in the house and he's left outside in the grass. He felt overlooked.
But even though Jesse left David out, God didn't leave him out. God said, "David, I see you. Even if your father won't acknowledge you, David, I see you. Even if your dad showed up for his other kids but left you out, David, I see you. Even if you feel all alone in this earth, David, I see you. Even if you don't look like none of your siblings, act like none of your siblings, still know I chose you for something special."
This is why I say, don't let anybody make you feel like you're insignificant. Don't let anybody make you feel like you're not important. Don't let anybody make you feel like your voice doesn't matter. God created you with deep value and deep purpose.
I need you to be open to this. I need you to receive it that even though the beginning of your life has felt insignificant, that God can make the latter greater. That God can increase you.
And Samuel says, "But nobody will sit down to eat until he arrives." And they left David out, but God made sure that nobody ate till David got there. I've been releasing the words to people that you can't eat till God let me get in the room.
He says, "You can't disqualify who God has called." This is why you have to be careful how you handle people. Because even though they tried to leave him out, you can't disqualify who God has called. Even if you don't invite me, God still sends me an invitation.
Verse 12 and 13: "So Jesse sent for him and he was dark and handsome. Hallelujah. Sound like my cousin. You know what I'm saying? We all look the same in the lock family a little bit. He said he was dark and handsome with beautiful eyes and the Lord said this is the one anoint him."
Now it's funny because you know David don't look like none of them. It's funny that they call him handsome because when you call him handsome you kind of saying the other ones was ugly a little bit I think. I don't know it's interpolation but he was dark. He was handsome and God says anoint him.
I love this because the Bible points out his looks for a reason to show you that you can take care of yourself and still be anointed. You know, I was raised in a generation of church that act like once you got saved, you had to get ugly. You know what I'm saying?
Like women couldn't wear makeup. They couldn't put on lipstick. You put on red lipstick like, "Yeah, you going straight to hell." Got that red on like a devil. I'm like, you can't you can't look nice now that you saved. Looking nice goes out the window. I should be ashy and here undone. Now I should be John the Baptist all the time now that I'm saved.
There's this there's this false expectation that means loving God means you lose your your outward appearance and your value. And that isn't true. God just doesn't want you worshiping how you look. Some of us are so focused on how we look on the outside, we forget we ugly on the inside. Amen. Amen. Okay.
Verse 13, my last verse. It says, "So as David stood there among his brothers, Samuel took the flask of olive oil that he had brought and he anointed David with the oil. Spirit of the Lord came powerfully on David from that day on. And then Samuel returned to Rama."
Now I read the verse fast. I'm going to read it slower so you can catch what just happened. And it says, "So as David stood there among his brothers," that this was based on the text probably the first time David was ever able to stand among his brothers.
He was the secret. Jesse was a preacher, had a son on the outside. This was a secret. This is a secret. David had to be in the background. Nobody ever knew about David. So the brothers were all trained to go to war, but David's name was never declared. They kept him in the backyard.
And this is the first time ever that he's able to stand with his brothers. I know that we read the scripture fast, but I need you to pause for a moment and imagine what emotions are going through you. The first time they have to acknowledge you, the first time they got to accept he's one of us. The first time they have to acknowledge it, he's standing amongst his brothers.
And not only do they have to acknowledge it, they have to acknowledge the one we overlooked is the one God picked.
This is the God of recompense we're preaching about. This is the God who says, "Don't worry about how they treat you. I'm going to pay you back double for everything that you went through. It may feel like it's hurting now. There may be tears that you're shedding right now, but please know that joy is coming. Just trust me."
And it says that David is standing amongst his brothers. Understand the trauma he had to live through to get to this moment. He's standing amongst his brothers and the prophet begins to pour oil on him. He begins to bless him.
I can imagine the tears rolling down David's face because I'm not a secret anymore. The tears rolling down his face as the man of God is pouring oil on him. Why would tears be rolling down David's face? Because no matter how much you deny it, there's a deep desire in all of us. There's a deep longing in all of us to be loved and to be wanted.
If you don't want to be loved and you don't want to be wanted, that's only because trauma made you start to reject it. Trauma made you say, "I don't want it anymore." Because you didn't have it. You were forced to live without it. You were forced to exist without it. So, you created a new existence of living a life without true love.
But inside of every single kid, inside of every son, every daughter is a desire to be loved by their family and to be loved by their father, to be recognized by their father, to say, "I love you. I see you. I value you. You're good."
It says, "So Samuel takes the oil and pours it on him and he anoints David with the oil and the spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon David from that day on."
I need you to catch this because the oil was important, but what was more important was that when the oil came, the Holy Spirit followed. Amen.
Says, "The spirit of the Lord came powerfully on David." And David went from being this rejected hidden boy to being this anointed king who's led by God.
And I need you to catch this. We've had so many baptisms. We had so many people, you know, going in the water and coming up new life, new person. And I want to tell you, congratulations. I'm proud of you. But I would be a terrible pastor if I didn't tell you the thing you really need is to be baptized with the Holy Spirit. That's what you really really need.
If if if you were to say, "Pastor, what do I need?" What would you say? What would you say, "Pastor, to every member, what's one piece of advice that you would give?" If I was not going to be here ever again and I had to leave you with one word, I would tell you, do not live this life without the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit is your teacher. He's your comforter. He's your guide. He's the one that will lead you and guide you into all truth. When lies are all around you, the spirit of truth will remain. The Bible says he will help you.
And so many of you, if you're trying to live this life with God, but without the Holy Spirit, it's impossible. Hear me. It's not just hard. It's impossible. You were never able to beat you in your own strength.
That's right. You you you've always lost to you—to your whims, to your impulses, to your desires, to your anger, to your emotions, to your bitterness. You've always lost to you. And you don't know how to beat you. That's why Jesus died and said, 'I'm going to send another comforter.'
He says, "Don't go anywhere. Don't do anything until you receive that comforter—the Paraclete, the advocate, the Holy Spirit. When he comes into your life, the world can't receive him because they didn't know him."
He said, "But you will because you know me and I love you. You'll receive the Holy Spirit."
I want to pray for you. I want everybody to stand at this time. I'm going to pray a very simple prayer, but it's for every person in the room.
Number one, heavenly father, I want to pray for those who have the Holy Spirit already. I pray God that we will stop ignoring you, Holy Spirit. Your word declares, "And grieve not the Holy Spirit." God, may our lifestyles never grieve you. May you not have to scream because we won't listen to the whisper. May we never choose a lifestyle of sin and make you hurt while having to live with us and experience it with us. May we never grieve you. May our lives turn to a place of radical submission and radical obedience.
For those in the room, I also pray for those who don't have the Holy Spirit today. How hard is life, God, without your spirit helping us? It's just too hard. You said that you would send the comforter, the helper, the Paraclete, the spirit of truth.
Lord, we pray right now that you would endow your spirit on those in the room who need you. This is not anything that any man can give them. God, only you can give them this.
If you feel you need the Holy Spirit, just raise your hand right now. If you feel if you don't know, if you're unsure, just raise your hand. Just raise your hand. Father, for every hand that's raised right now, you declare, God, that all we had to do was ask. You said we don't got to do nothing extra. It don't got to be all fancy. All we have to do is ask for the Holy Spirit. And you said you will give it because it's a good gift. It's a gift you want us to have.
And so every hand, God, is a sign that they are asking. It's a signal that they need you. Now, God, may the spirit of joy baptize them. May the spirit of power baptize them. May the power of the Holy Ghost endow them right now, Lord God. They cannot live this life without you.
David cannot be anointed without the Holy Spirit. So Lord, pour your spirit in this room and heal those who need you right now. Lord God, may their lives forever be different. May you give them access to gifts they never would have thought they would have had. God, may you begin to be in their life, in their room, in their car, in their homes, in ways they've never experienced before.
May you do what only you can do. In Yeshua's name we pray. God's people said amen.
I want to do two things really quickly while you're standing. Two things. One, if you never got a chance to say yes to Jesus. Maybe this prayer didn't mean anything because you're like, I'm I don't know where I stand with God. And that's okay. It's okay to say that I just don't want you to stay that way.
If you don't know where you stand with the Lord or you want to give your life to Jesus, this is your moment to just step out, be bold, and say, you know what? I want to give my life to Christ. Just come to the front right now and just say, you know what? I want to give my life to Jesus. I want my life to be different. I want my life to be changed. I'm ready to be different today. I'm ready.

To the overlooked in the room, God is not looking over you. He's choosing you right now. Maybe your family didn't choose you. Maybe your father didn't choose you, but God is choosing you. God is choosing you. God is choosing you. He's calling you. He's calling you. He's calling you.
You feel the tug of God on your heart. Don't let fear stop you. Don't let fear grip you. Just say, "You know what, Lord? I feel you pulling on me and I'm saying yes to you. I'm getting ready to come down." Hallelujah.
I'm going to stay here because I want to pray with the intercessors. If you need prayer, maybe this message touched you. Maybe it was you that needed something. Or maybe you need prayer for healing. God is a healer. I I don't have time to share with you all the testimonies we've seen, but if you would just just dare to believe, God, just dare to believe that the work of the cross was a finished work and that God is going to heal you.
If you just give God a chance, God will blow your mind at what he can do.
Father, may you move in ways, God, that blows our mind. And you said what eyes haven't seen, ears haven't heard, what hasn't even entered into the hearts of men. God, you're getting ready to do that.
