Tonight, we want to speak on the effect of the power of God—what the power of God seeks to achieve. Our objectives are twofold: first, to understand the impact of the power of God, and second, to understand the way of the power of God.
The Psalmist declares in Psalm 62:11, "God has spoken once, twice have I heard this: that power belongs to God." Let this truth settle in your heart: power belongs to God alone. Power does not belong to the devil. Power does not belong to a shrine or an altar. Power does not belong to those who practice magical arts. According to the Bible, power belongs to God.
It is that same power you experienced last night. It is that power we are continuing to experience from this moment. It is that power that shall be experienced in this land. Whatever distance you have traveled to be here tonight—whether from nearby or over 100 kilometers away—we shall experience the power of God together.
The power of God and the anointing of God work together as the pathway for salvation. The Apostle Paul declared in Romans 1:16: "I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God unto salvation."
It is the power of God that brings salvation—that delivers us from worshiping dead idols, that delivers us from witchcraft and alcoholism. This power breaks the grip of smoking, immorality, masturbation, stealing, lying, cheating, and fraudulent lifestyles.
The Bible says, "All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God," and "the wages of sin is death." We all deserve to go to hell. But Jesus—God sent His Son to shed His blood for us so that we don't go to hell, so that we can be delivered from the lifestyle taking us to hell through the power of God that comes in the gospel.
Let me share a testimony. Some time back, we were dedicating one of our churches in Abuja. The power of God, the anointing, and the presence of God were so strong that a man passing by on the road was arrested by God's presence. The power magnetized him and pulled him into the service. At the end, he told us he had been a drunkard for 35 years—useless, enslaved by alcoholism. But while passing by, a power stronger than alcohol arrested him and pulled him to God's presence. The appetite for alcohol died on the spot. The taste died on the spot.
That is the power I came here to advertise tonight so that you don't die and go to hell. Everything that has held your life down, every bad lifestyle and character—tonight, it shall be broken.
Isaiah 10:27 declares: "In that day, his burden shall be taken away from your shoulder, and his yoke from off your neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing."
The power of God lifts burdens and destroys yokes—over individuals, over families, over institutions, over territories. One of the greatest challenges of iniquity is captivity. Where iniquity thrives, captivity flourishes. In places where altars and shrines flourish, where evil traditional activities thrive, captivity also flourishes.
You see young men with great potential who cannot amount to anything. You see young girls with great promise who cannot reach anywhere. This great land, with its rich history—the colonial railway, Christian missions, Methodist missionaries who landed here over 100 years ago, and all the great people this land has produced—yet the whole place is still tied down by the power of evil.
I came here to announce: the altars of evil shall catch fire in this season. Every yoke of bondage, everything that has limited the life of young men and women, everything that has limited this territory—that yoke shall be broken.
Let me tell you what happened in Botswana. They said to me, "Man of God, our crops are dying. The land is dry. Nothing is flourishing. Pray, let God give us rain." I told them, "The rain will fall, and the land will be refreshed. But the weather will be good for the crusade. The rain will fall after we finish." We ended the crusade on Saturday. Rain arrived 48 hours later, on Monday. And the rain fell and fell and fell. It became a flood in the desert. Vehicles were being carried by the water. They called us from Botswana saying, "We asked for rain, but we got a flood!"
When I prayed, I said, "Lord, rain upon rain upon rain." The Lord heard me, and it overflowed. So later we had to pray again: "Lord, just rain is enough." And God arrested it.
That bondage of dryness was broken there. I don't know what is the captivity here tonight. I don't know what is the bondage in this land. But I am here to announce the yoke is broken.
The anointing and power of God is designed for the relief of affliction, the termination of ailments. Acts 10:38 says: "God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power, who went about doing good, healing all that were oppressed of the devil, for God was with him."
The anointing made the blind to see. The anointing made the lame to walk. The anointing made tumors disappear. Whatever is wrong with you today, you shall be arrested and healed.
You say the devil told you, "You cannot eat pepper. You cannot eat porridge. You cannot eat these things because of ulcers, because of something in your body." Every time people are eating, but you cannot eat it—tonight that yoke is broken. Tonight that yoke is broken.
The power of God is targeted at the judgment of demonic altars, shrines, and deities that limit the destiny of people—family altars, clan altars, district altars and shrines.
Exodus 12:12 says: "I will go through the land of Egypt and I will smite the firstborn. Against the gods of Egypt, I will execute judgment. I am the Lord."
Altars and shrines and deities that say people should not marry on time, that people should have gifts but be useless, that people should not serve God—those altars and deities are catching fire tonight.
I was praying for a pastor some time ago, and I saw a vision—a snake with a head like this. This man had struggled to pastor with nothing to show for it. I asked him, "What is this snake that I see? What does it mean to you?" He said that snake had a house in his father's house. His father was a local chief. Every morning that snake would come out from the house and bow down before the chief and return. They served that snake—a serpentine altar.
That power tied his life. Nobody was permitted to be a Christian in that family, let alone a pastor. You had to be wayward, useless. You couldn't serve God. But he had the call of God to be a pastor. When I prayed for him that day, we broke that power.
Any such altar or deity in your father's house, in this community, that is fighting your life and your destiny—tonight they are set on fire. Tonight they are destroyed.
The power of God is designed for the judgment of human personalities that sit on the destiny of people—anyone resisting the plan of God for a people, a community, or a nation. Anyone like Pharaoh, who sat on the destiny of the Israelites, is doomed for judgment.
There are communities where the elders grow old while the younger ones die young. When it is time for them to go, they exchange themselves with another young person. I am here to announce the obituary of all those agents of the devil. Every witch, every wizard, every agent of darkness, every human being sitting on your destiny and the destiny of your family members—today is their end.
There are people who have to go before some people's destinies are free. It was not possible for Israel to come out of Egypt until Pharaoh faced judgment. The church in the New Testament could not grow until Herod died. In Acts 12:23, the angel of the Lord smote Herod and he died. The very next verse says, "The word of God grew and multiplied." The church grew and multiplied. Nothing could grow as long as Herod was there.
Every Herod in your life, every Herod in your family, every Pharaoh in your community—after tonight, they shall expire, and the word of God shall grow. Increase shall happen in this land.
Let me share another testimony. One of our sisters came to an anointing service and asked me to pray over oil so she could go to a neighboring country to anoint her brother's wife who was trusting God for a child. She traveled and returned. That night, in her dream, a woman appeared—a notable witch from their village. The woman said, "Who told you to go and pray for those people? Why must you go and pray for them?"
The next morning—Thursday—she woke up with handwriting on her leg. Colored writing, like Chinese or Japanese script. I told her, "The witch came to you in person. The Bible says not the witch to live. Witches don't normally expose themselves. So she expires. She won't see another day."
It was Thursday. She could not wake up by Friday. I announce to you today: everyone the enemy is using against your life—by the power of God tonight, their judgment is real.
The power of God positions our lives in dominion and destiny. Where God wants you to be in life, where God wants this land to be—it is His power that crowns you for that place. He positions you to be where you are meant to be and who you are meant to be for Him.
It was the anointing—the power of God—that made Saul king (1 Samuel 10:1). That same anointing made David occupy his position (1 Samuel 16:13). Anywhere God has ordained for you to be, anywhere God has ordained for your life, for this church, for this land to be—by the power of God, we shall take our places there in the name of Jesus.
Finally, the power of God, which is the anointing, is fuel for light. Exodus 25:6 says, "Oil for the light." This is the light we need to destroy darkness, the light we need for direction. This light comes by the power of God, and it is that power we have come here with tonight.
First, power comes through the gospel. Paul said, "I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God." Inside the gospel is power. Through the gospel, power flows.
Second, power comes through the word. The gospel is the declaration of God's purpose for man's salvation. The word of God is the general declaration of God's counsel. Ecclesiastes 8:4 says, "Where the word of the king is, there is power." There is power in the word of God.
Third, power comes through the Holy Spirit. Jesus said in Acts 1:8, "You shall receive power after the Holy Ghost is come upon you." The kingdom of God is not meat and drink, but righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.
We are about to pray. This is the last night of this crusade. There will be several segments of prayer tonight. But whether you are here or listening elsewhere, if you are in need of forgiveness for your sins, we will start from there.
Let us stand. Lift your hands and pray with me:
Father, thank you. Thank you for tonight, for your word. I am grateful. Do something new in my life today. Thank you, Lord, in Jesus' name.
Anywhere you are tonight, if you want your sins forgiven, if you want Jesus to be Lord over your life, if you want a broken, negative lifestyle broken—pray this prayer with me:
Lord Jesus, I am a sinner. I need you in my life. Come into my life. Make me a new person today. I have decided to follow you.
